Dear Thiago,
since the beginning of May, I’m taking part in your pronunciation course. I never found such a patient and thorough teaching of connecting speech and of pronunciation. Many Thanks and congratulation for these marvelous presentations.
Now, I’m at the end of the “English sound”-part – already with a lot of repetitions. And I would like to take part in the online community but I’m unsure how to do it. I don’t understand the method. What should I do with the PDF preparation stuff? I don’t find the videos the PDF files asking for and talking about. Should I listen to them before? But where? Certainly, all the question are very simple for you and the other members, but I am not a young man anymore and have some difficulties getting used to new formats.
At the end another question. Is there any lesson by you about the difference between British and American pronunciation and, especially, connected speech? For example, I haven’t the impression such a lot of omitting t, d and g from ING occurs In the British English. Is this typical American English?
Intentionally, I’m sending you this text without correcting it by someone – for instance, ChatGPT – because I want you see what’s my level now. In my younger years (at the end of my 30s) I started learning English for my profession. It wasn’t taught in our schools. In my 70s I forgot most of them and now in my 80s (exactly, since November of the last year) I has been trying for reactivating my former – rather poor – English and improving it step by step. I know it’s much better now than it has been ever. For my afford, I have a lot of motivations. But the most important one is struggling for maintaining my intellectual performance and pushing away any shadow of dementia.
It’s a long letter, excuse me, and thank you for reading.
Best regards.
D. K.
