It’s a long time ago that I have talked about my hip replacement, about the TEP. Even today, it’s a very bad day talking about it, because the stroll two hours ago was ugly. The last week wasn’t so bad, and my hope – always carefully – was increasing. The setback today needn’t mean anything; that happens again and again. I am used to it.
So let’s think about what has changed positively. What seems to be the difference between today and one year before? I think it’s growing stability. Despite my pain in the muscles, I feel much more power, and I can stay much better on my affected leg – of course not as sure as with the other leg, sometimes shaking, sometimes without problems. I am able not only to stand but also to do some gymnastics with my right foot, balancing on the operated leg. Feeling this increasing stability gives me hope to come to a relatively good walking style. All this depends on getting old enough to find out.
What is especially better than before: I can cross the left leg over the right one smoothly, lightly. Before, it was only possible for some seconds with great effort. Then I can put on my left sock without problems. That is still difficult with the right one.
