How to use podcasts

How to use podcasts for learning English, especially at an advanced level?

First, look for interesting podcasts. You have to be curious about the podcast; otherwise, you’ll lose your motivation and diligence to follow it.

Second, listen without any distractions. Don’t do anything else while listening. Don’t turn it into a gym session or do chores during it. All these things can distract you from the podcast.

Third, work with the episode: shadow it, summarize it, and write down second-tier words—these are words you’ve probably heard before but aren’t sure about their meaning.

Fourth, repeat the episode. Don’t just move on to the next one and the next one. Instead, repeat the same podcast multiple times. For example:

Day 1: Listen without support.

Day 2: Listen with subtitles.

Day 3: Shadow it.

Day 4: Summarize it.

Day 5: Repeat it to see if you’ve improved.

I’m not sure if I can stick to this method, but I’ll try it. It seems to be a very good approach, suggested by Leonardo. Now I’ve written a summary of his podcast. This is the first exercise I’ve done with Leonardo’s podcast.
