Mr Witkoff

Indeed, it is my intention to write an German article about the mysterious Mr Witkoff. Mr Witkoff is the envoy of President Trump for the Near East and is now  responsibil for negotiating with Vladimir Putin about peace, about ceasefire in Ukraine. It should appear that he has the best reputation, the best preparation, the best education for the most demanding/affording diplomatic job of the last decades. He should the most clever guy for making foreign policy. But not at all. Mr Witkoff is a real state investor, perhaps a good man, I guess. Really a billionaire, obviously, the sufficient presupposition getting such an job. No, not sufficient, sufficient is if somebody unconditionally loyal is to Mr Trump. I have not the impression that he has any experiences with foreign countries. In his biography, there is nothing about his relations to other countries and to foreign languages. And I didn’t hear about commanding the Russian language. Of course, it is not necessary, but I think it would be a big advantage to understand the language of the adversary. Of course, I don’t recommend to use it in challenging negotiation. We had specific experiences with President Zelensky. He should have had a translator and not talking himself in English with Trump. But it is a big advantage to understand the language, to have time to react and guessing the feeling or intention of the adversary person.

Correct it!

Mr. Witkoff is President Trump’s envoy for the Near East and now holds the responsibility for negotiating with Vladimir Putin about peace and a ceasefire in Ukraine. It should appear that he has the best reputation, the best preparation, and the best education for the most demanding diplomatic job of recent decades. Mr. Witkoff is a real estate investor—perhaps a good man, I guess. A real billionaire, obviously. That seems to be the sufficient condition for getting such a job. No, not just that—what’s sufficient is unconditional loyalty to Mr. Trump. I don’t have the impression that he has any experience with foreign countries. In his biography, there’s nothing about relations with other nations or foreign languages. And I haven’t heard that he speaks Russian.

Of course, it’s not absolutely necessary, but I believe it would be a big advantage to understand the language of one’s adversary. Not to speak it during challenging negotiations, of course—we had specific experiences with President Zelensky. He should have used a translator instead of speaking English himself with Trump. But still, it is a big advantage to understand the language, to have time to react, and to sense the feelings or intentions of the other person.
