Instead of writing a new diary entry i I’m quoting a letter – more exactly an email – tho the famous Englisch teacher Keith which I wrote today, I’m taking it as a testimony that I also studied English today.
Hello, Keith, here is the old bag again. The old bag of 84, running to the 85 in short time. And I want to write to you, though you haven’t time to answer me. That’s not so important. Important for me is to have an address who is receiving it. And I’m rather sure that you will read it. And so it helps me to write it down. Daily, I make a more or less long entry in my diary. But this is not the same as to have a picture in front of me, a picture of the person who is addressed by my writing.
In this email, you gave us a lot of suggestions to improve listening, understanding of spoken English.
Now I have found a very good possibility to improve my speaking, my speaking freely, if am alone with my English learning. It is using an app which generates questions to/for you. And after you have read the question (I do it aloud) you can answer what you like (of course, aloud). In contrast to the other possibility taking one subject and starting to speak aloud about this. It’s very nice too, but has a disadvantage that you are moving again and again in your own vocabulary what you can access. And you are provoked to speak about topics you never had thought of. The app I’m using is Party Qs. It is a good app but not a very good one because the questions are only given in written form. I’m now looking for an app with the same question quality and with spoken output.
I don’t know if you have spoken about this possibility of speech training in one of your many videos, of no, you may tell about it casually.
With best wishes for your work
Dietrich
