Oh. I have to disappoint you, I am not Mark, I am John. You mixed me up. A little confused because I have a very common face. Uh so everybody, a lot of people change me with someone somebody else.

Do not apologize for that. You know, everybody makes such mistakes. And it happened to me all the time, or not only that, I may be mixed up with somebody else or that I mix up somebody else with somebody some other people.
That is fair. Well, since I have you here, I am Avery. What brings you to this conference?
It’s obviously my high interest into artificial intelligence. This is a leading conference on artificial intelligence and I would like to hear something news which are not published before.
That makes sense. I hope you find some groundbreaking insights here, John.
Yes, it did already. And the first lesson, uh, the first time I heard that the translating can happen, the voice translating can happen in real time with artificial intelligence. And not only in real time, but with similarity to the voice the original speaker has. That was impressive.
That sounds incredible. Real-time voice cloning for translation would definitely change how we communicate at international conferences.
Yes, but the dangerous that uh gold real time translators are on the way to getting to get uh unemployed. And they have to change their job. I think there is a lot to do for people which are multi language have ability of multi language speaking, uh despite of the facilities of the abilities of artificial intelligence. But it’s not simple. On the other way, I think human real time translation, it’s also a very stressing job. And the translator had to change after 20 minutes or half an hour for preventing them from being exhausted.
That is a valid point. The technology is amazing, but it definitely raises concerns about the future of human interpreters.
What do you think human interpreters can do in the future without changing her total profession, using her professionality for other task? What kind of task can be created for them?
That is a tough question. Maybe they can focus on high-stakes negotiations where emotional nuance is critical, or verify AI translations for accuracy.
Well, that could be valid for the next two or three years, but after that, I think all the emotional part of translation of real-time translation will be managed by AI and I’m afraid much better than people can do.
That is a sobering thought, but I suppose AI continues to advance rapidly. It was great chatting with you, John.
