I want to talk a bit about my day and about my cooking today. At noon, I headed to my hair appointment and had another nice talk with my lovely hairdresser Vanessa. She nudged me not to delay my birthday party. Even though I have a cold, we should carry it out because a few weeks later it isn’t a birthday anymore. After hairdressing, I dropped by the grocery, bought vegetables, bread, wine, and finally a chicken for chicken soup. Chicken soup is an excellent medicine against a cold.
How did I cook it? First, I put the chicken in cold water and heated it until it was boiling. Then I poured this water away, steamed vegetables and onions in the same pot, poured more than a liter of water into it, and put the chicken back in this pot and cooked it for about an hour.
Of course, some spices had to be added, like salt, pepper, turmeric, bay leaves, pigment, juniper berries, and just some others which I forgot. When the chicken was done, I grabbed it out of the pot and removed the flesh from the bones. The flesh was put back into the pot. It just turned out that the soup tasted a little bland. So we figured out that we had to search for some fresh herbs in our garden and found thyme, rosemary, and another one which I forgot, and now I warmed it up again. The soup tasted delicious.
