I got this recipe from the cooking section of the New York Times. I read it a few days ago and found it hilarious but when I started to cook it the recipe had vanished in my online edition of the newspaper. Therefore, I had to develop it with my own imagination. It’s a rather simple dish. Take a couple of onions or a big one, slice them not too thinly, you can also add a paprika for coloring and increasing the mass, put all these in a hot frying pan with oil and leave them steaming gently. Crush as many garlic cloves as you like over the pan. Now add your salted and peppered mushrooms to the frying onions. Depending on your taste, put a teaspoon of paprika into it. Perhaps it needs now a bit water and some creme fraich or a similar dairy product such as sour cream. Meanwhile you have cooked your gnocchi in salted water which you now mix into your mushroom sauce.
